FG - Open schools on Sep 22. NUT - No, we wont.
The Nigeria Union of Teachers, (NUT) has directed all its members to stay at home until the government provides the necessary gadgets needed in schools across the nation to ensure that teachers and students are protected against the Ebola Virus Disease.
Briefing reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, the national president of the union, Mr Michael Olukoya, said that none of its members would teach until it has been medically proven that the country is Ebola virus free.
The decision of the union is coming a day after the Federal Government said it would not shift the resumption date of September 22.
During a meeting between the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, the House Committee on Education and members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Shekarau said that the Federal Government was not influenced by private school owners to adopt the September 22 date for secondary and primary schools’ resumption.
